Bachelor's Degree in Music
A tune in your heart and a song on your lips – God has given you a gift in music. Cultivate it as a music major at the University of the Cumberlands. We’ll help you understand musical concepts, acquire musical skills and develop positive attitudes toward arts advocacy. And our faculty of outstanding music professionals will guide you, helping you develop your talents to their fullest.
While earning your bachelor’s degree in music, you’ll have access to fine facilities, including two lecture rooms, nine studios, a rehearsal hall, 16 practice rooms, and a music education classroom complete with a variety of teaching series and multiple Orff instruments. We also have a 150-seat recital hall, an electronic piano lab and a computer-assisted instruction laboratory.
What can I do with this Music degree?
As a graduate of UC’s music program, you’ll have the aptitude you need to pursue studies at a graduate level and the proficiency to pursue careers like:
- Music Teacher (with appropriate certification)
- Performer – Musician or Singer
- Private Teacher
- Church Musician
- Band/Recording Artist Employee
- Music Retailer
- Research Music
As a requirement for acceptance in the music program, you will undertake an audition to assess your performance skills and keyboard proficiency. And as a music major, you will present a recital on your voice or primary instrument during your senior year.
