Cumberlands Named to America’s Best Christian Colleges

The 17th annual report of America’s Best Christian Colleges® by the Institutional Research & Evaluation Inc. has included University of the Cumberlands (UC) as one of America’s Best Christian Colleges.

“It’s a humbling but joyous occasion as we celebrate being named one of America’s Best Christian institutions: humbling because to whom much is given, much is required; and joyous because of this stellar recognition of our Christian beliefs and persuasions,” said UC President Dr. Jim Taylor.

Cumberlands Celebrates 125th Anniversary with Three Must See Collections

University of the Cumberlands (UC) will be presenting several magnificent and unique, must-see exhibits at the Cumberland Museum in honor of UC’s 125th Anniversary Homecoming celebration. These exhibits include the Charles Kelly photo gallery, The Carl Williams Cross Collection, and the Biblical Art Showcase.

The Cumberland Museum will feature a wide range of historical events captured by the phenomenal photographer, Charles Kelly.

University of the Cumberlands to observe Patriot Day for 9/11 ceremony

University of the Cumberlands (UC) will conduct a commemoration ceremony for the victims of 9/11 on Wednesday, September 11th in Patriot Park at the Hutton School of Business. The program will begin at 12:00 noon.

The ceremony is free and open to the public. The inclement weather site will be in the O. Wayne Rollins Center.

The ceremony will open with a musical arrangement and prayer. Senior Judge Eugene Siler Jr.

Dr. Eddie Perkins named Vice President for Medical Services

University of the Cumberlands (UC) is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Dr. Eddie Perkins as Vice President of Medical Services.

“I am honored to serve the University of the Cumberlands at any capacity and look forward to continuing the Universities’ tradition of excellence and service to the community,” said Dr. Perkins.

Perkins was raised in Williamsburg, Kentucky and was graduated from Williamsburg High School in 1982. He was actually a member of the last class to attend the old school building which today is the Anderson Building located on UC’s campus.

Cumberlands Named to College Database Most Affordable List

University of the Cumberlands (UC) has been recognized for providing high quality education at an affordable price. The College Database has released its list of the top Kentucky colleges with the highest financial return on investment. UC is proud to be one of the eleven schools selected for this honorable list.

“Our emphasis on high quality and low cost higher education is again being recognized nationally. It’s very gratifying to receive this great recognition,” said UC President Jim Taylor.

This distinction stems from a new metric created by The College Database.

Hutton School of Business hosts 2013 Business Forum

On Wednesday, April 17, University of the Cumberlands (UC) Hutton School of Business hosted the 6th annual Business Forum for Young Professionals.

The business forum is designed to prepare young professionals as they enter the business workforce. Industry professionals share their professional experiences and discuss ways in which businesses can thrive, not just survive, in any financial climate. The theme for 2013 was “How to Achieve Business Growth in a Recovering Economy.”

This year’s guest speakers were Mr. Larry W. Gray, President of Baptist Health Corbin, Ms.

UC Professor has book named to Choice’s Outstanding Academic Titles

University of the Cumberlands (UC) professor Dr. Barry A. Vann’s latest book, Puritan Islam: The Geoexpansion of the Muslim World was named to Choice’s 2012 annual Top 25 Outstanding Academic Titles (OAT) list. Choice’s annual OAT list is widely recognized in the academic community for its coverage of the most significant scholarly titles published each year.

Dr. Vann is a professor of geography and higher education at UC. Puritan Islam is the sixth book that he has written throughout his career. Some of Dr.

Cumberlands PA Program gets Anatomage Table

Recently, University of the Cumberlands (UC) Physician Assistant (PA) program became the first PA school in Kentucky and in the country to incorporate an Anatomage Table into their curriculum.

Dr. Barry Vann named Alumni of the Year from Roane State Community College

Dr. Barry Vann, Director of Community and Higher Education and professor of geography at University of the Cumberlands (UC), was selected for the honor of Alumnus of the Year by Roane State Community College. Vann is director of the Ed.D. program at UC.

Dr. Vann struggled in life with early poverty and put forth much effort in developmental courses in math and English. Despite these early challenges, he completed his undergraduate, masters, and two doctorate degrees.
