Cumberlands Makes President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll

The Corporation for National Community Service recently honored University of the Cumberlands (UC) with a place on the 2012 President’s Higher Education Community Service Honor Roll for exemplary service efforts and service to America’s communities.

UC Physician Assistant Program holds second White Coat Ceremony

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Master of Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) program honored its 2nd Cohort class during a White Coat Ceremony in Gatliff Chapel on May 4. The ceremony recognized the successful completion of the students’ pre-clinical trials. The students will now enter 12 months of clinical studies after which they will graduate with a master’s degree in physician assistant studies.

Students were presented with white coats bearing their name by Dr. Eddie Perkins, MPAS program director and Dr. Sonia Young, MPAS associate program director.

Graduate Education Students at UC Recognized in Hooding Ceremony

The University of the Cumberlands (UC) Education Department held a hooding ceremony where graduate education degree recipients received their Master’s degree hoods. The ceremony was held on May 4, 2012 at First Baptist Church located in Williamsburg, KY.

Along with presenting of the hoods, Thomas Berry (Morganfield, Ky.) addressed the rest of the education graduates.

Rutherford Receives Honorary Degree from Cumberlands

University of the Cumberlands (UC) honored Dr. Wayne T. Rutherford with a Doctor of Law degree during the 53rd annual Honor’s Day Ceremonies on Monday, April 23rd in the O. Wayne Rollins Center.

Cumberlands Honors Retiree Robert Heffern

University of the Cumberlands (UC) honored Dr. Robert Heffern’s retirement at its 20th annual Faculty-Staff Dinner on April 19.

On Wednesday, April 18th, the University of the Cumberlands (UC) Hutton School of Business (HSB) hosted their 5th annual Business Forum for Young Professionals.

The business forum is designed to prepare young professionals as they enter the business workforce. Industry professionals share their professional experiences and discuss ways in which businesses can thrive, not just survive, in any financial climate. The theme for 2012 was “Opportunities for Success in the Second Decade of the 21st Century.”

Giuliani Brings Leadership Experience to Cumberlands

“America’s Mayor”, Rudy Giuliani, spoke at University of the Cumberlands (UC) before a capacity crowd in the O. Wayne Rollins Center on Tuesday April 3 as part of the Forcht Group of Kentucky Center for Excellence in Leadership series.

The former New York City mayor spoke on courage and the six principles of leadership; beliefs, optimism, courage, relentless preparation, teamwork and communication. The mayor focused on leading in all aspects of life; as a student, as a professional, and as a family.

UC Physician Assistant Program granted Continued Accreditation

This March, after three years and many hours of dedication, the University of the Cumberlands (UC) Physician Assistant (PA) program was granted Continued Accreditation through the Accreditation Review Commission on Education.

“The faculty and staff’s dedication and commitment to the education of our PA students has been outstanding and should be commended,” said Dr. Eddie Perkins, director of the PA program. “It was through a team effort that accreditation was accomplished.”

Rudy Giuliani to speak at University of the Cumberlands

University of the Cumberlands (UC) and the Forcht Group of Kentucky Center for Excellence in Leadership present “Principled Leadership in a Time of Crisis” with former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani. The event will be held in UC’s O. Wayne Rollins Center on Tuesday, April 3 at 7 p.m.
