Admissions

Admission to the proposed master’s program will be based on evidence that the applicant has demonstrated academic proficiency and the capability for success at the graduate level. Documentation for the following items must be received before an admission decision will be made:

  • Completed graduate application form with application fee.
  • Official transcripts for all undergraduate and graduate work from accredited colleges or universities.
  • A 500-word writing sample focusing on the applicant's experience in the field of information technology and the reasons for her/his desire to enter and complete the program.
  • Three letters of reference assessing the applicant’s potential to successfully complete the program.
  • A score for either the Graduate Record Examination or the Miller Analogies Test. An applicant can be accepted into the program conditionally without a score for either the Graduate Record Examination or the Miller Analogies Test pending submission of a score by the end of his/her first academic semester in the program.
  • A cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 2.75 for undergraduate work
  • Documentation of language fluency for non-native speakers of English, such as a score report from the Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) or the International English Language Testing System (IELTS). The minimum acceptable TOEFL or IELTS scores for admission are
    • Paper-based TOEFL (PBT) – 550
    • Computer-based TOEFL (CBT) – 213
    • Internet-based TOEFL (IBT) – 79
    • IELTS – 6

Applicants whose undergraduate transcript or undergraduate GPA do not meet the minimum requirements may be admitted to the program conditionally. Applicants that do not have an undergraduate degree in information technology may be admitted to the program by two (2) years of experience in an information technology related profession.
