The Doctorate of Education in Educational Leadership is designed for those looking to enhance their specialty knowledge and lead our educational institutions into the future. The 60 credit hour program accommodates working professionals and focuses on addressing today’s educational issues through development of advanced practitioner skills rooted in sound research methodologies.
The program can be completed in less than three years. In order to accommodate professional work schedules, the program can be completed 100% online. Optional on-campus classes are also available and generally meet on Saturdays. The program empowers graduates to apply the critical and creative thinking skills necessary to meet the complex demands placed on organizations dedicated to education and development.
We prepare professional educators to make valuable, cutting-edge contributions in a variety of academic leadership roles and settings. Through research, professional activity, public service, and implementation of the program curriculum, our faculty is committed to providing degree candidates the opportunity to expand their professional knowledge and understanding of educational theory, extend their mastery of research and its application to strategic problem-solving, and strengthen the research, analytical and communication skills necessary for professional decision-making.
For those educators wishing to obtain a Kentucky Rank 1 certification with the Doctorate, this requires additional coursework within the School of Education above the first Masters. The Ed.D. alone does not provide the Kentucky Rank 1 certification without an accompanying Planned Program from the School of Education identifying the program courses required for Rank 1.
