You can earn your Doctorate in education online with our accelerated program. The Ed.D. program in Educational Leadership consists of 60 post-Master’s credit hours* designed to be completed in three years or less. The program boasts several design features (online classes, executive format and one-on-one instruction). Core courses focus on the politics of educational decision-making, program evaluation and assessment, institutional improvement, understanding diversity, grant writing, strategic planning, and the development of sound research skills.
The educational Doctorate degree program breaks down into three essential components that will be incorporated into each candidate’s program of study.
Administrative Leadership Core Curriculum: (27 hours)
Twenty-seven hours are earned in courses featuring the qualities and activities of academic leaders. This component is designed to provide a broad knowledge base in leadership and its application to real-world situations.

Specialty Area Content: (18 hours)
Eighteen hours of graduate coursework are earned beyond the Master’s degree in one or more of the following specialty areas: business, education, English, history, math, psychology, or religion. This component is intended to build upon the core knowledge base, and allows candidates to further explore their interests and career objectives through cross-disciplinary study. (A list of elective courses may be viewed under course descriptions, or in the Ed.D. Catalog, pages 12-13.)
*No more than 18 hours may be transferred into the program. Transfer hours may form all or part of a specialty area as noted above. The 42-hour core consisting of the administrative leadership and research curriculum must be completed at University of the Cumberlands.
