This program is intended for those who have earned their baccalaureate degree and who are already working in the Information Technology (IT) field in a traditional campus setting.

Through the Master of Science in Information Systems Security (ISEC), University of the Cumberlands seeks to develop individuals to be leaders in the field of Information security. As a discipline, information security is dedicated to the pursuit of preventing or mitigating the risk of loss of data. With the combination of the ubiquitous nature of electronic information and the associated security risks, the field of information security has become a critical need for every organization.

This program seeks to:

  • Prepare candidates with the knowledge to develop and implement security policies
  • Prepare candidates to manage compliance with the various federal regulations that apply to information security (such as Sarbanes-Oxley, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act and the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)
  • Prepare candidates to create disaster prevention and recovery plans
  • Prepare candidates to recognize and prevent exploitation due to hardware, software and network configurations
