Executive Master of Science in Information Systems Security

The Master of Science in Information Systems Security (ISS) at University of the Cumberlands develops individuals to be leaders in the field of Information security through the weekend residency program. As a discipline, information security is dedicated to the pursuit of preventing or mitigating the risk of loss of data. With the combination of the ubiquitous nature of electronic information and the associated security risks, the field of information security has become a critical need for every organization.

You can earn your M.S. in Information Technology in as few as two years, taught by industry-experienced instructors. Access to 24/7 technical support and a dynamic network of peers also enhances learning. Students can be confident in the career preparation they will receive since University of the Cumberlands has been named a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense (CAE-CD) by the National Security Agency (NSA) and the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). There are just over 200 universities nationwide with CAE-CD designation, and only two other universities in Kentucky included in this elite group.

This Executive Information Systems Security program is a STEM designated degree program that prepares candidates to manage the electronic protection of confidential information through a variety of technologies and software applications. As a graduate of the program, you’ll be ready to;

  • Develop security products
  • Prevent network attacks through business impact and risk assessments
  • Serve as a security analyst
  • Mitigate cyber attacks through tools, techniques, and penetration testing
  • Identify system vulnerabilities with intrusion detection systems
  • Develop a business continuity plan to recover from an attack
  • Integrate digital forensics investigative techniques
  • Manage security architecture and operations

Tuition and fees are as follows:

  • $500 per credit hour
  • $50 technology fee per course

A three-credit-hour course will have a tuition cost of $1,500, and this Executive Master's Degree program requires completion of 31 credit hours. You can roughly figure the following tuition and fee expense for a program completed in 24 months.

The program is mapped directly to Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and National Security Agency (NSA) cyber security education standards, and aligns with the (ISC)2 CISSP Common Body of Knowledge. A Master of Science in Information Security Systems will equip students for a career, but it will also prepare graduates for the CISSP certification exam.

You can earn your executive Master of Science in Information Systems Security and prepare to be a leader in the IT industry. To learn more about this degree program or UC's other information technology programs, contact us today.
