The University of the Cumberlands Jazz Ensemble recently concluded a successful tour after the conclusion of the spring semester. The two-day tour included performances at four high schools, including Model Laboratory School, Grant County High School, Scott County High School, and Rockcastle County High School. The performance at Scott County was in conjunction with the Kentucky Music Educators Association Jazz Assessment event. The UC Jazz Ensemble was the first-ever university ensemble to appear as an exhibition group at this event!

The UC Jazz Ensemble is led by director David Threlkeld and assistant director Joe Jordan.

Mr. Threlkeld said of the tour, "The Jazz Ensemble performed exceptionally well during our tour and was well received at every performance. We had the opportunity to interact with many high school musicians and answer questions about music and UC. It was a great way to end the year!"

The University of the Cumberlands music department offers many exciting performing ensembles for UC students. These ensembles contribute significantly to the Cumberlands experience and are active in many facets of campus life. They range in size from small chamber ensembles to large ensembles for both choral and instrumental groups. Participation is open to all students on campus regardless of whether they are music majors or students with majors in other subject areas.
